We just returned from a week long trip to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. We have stayed several times in the resorts, and hotels in the area but had never stayed in a cabin before this trip. So wanting to try something new we decided to rent a cabin during our stay.
When I began searching for a cabin my head was set swimming by all of the cabins available for rent in the Smoky Mountains. Trying to choose the perfect cabin from the many available seemed a daunting task. I knew there were a few ammenities that we really wanted, most specifically a hot tub, a jacuzzi tub inside, and a pool table or game room of some sort. We also wanted all of this at a great price.
Since I was planning this trip at the last minute I began calling all of the different cabin rental places trying to find a great last minute deal. All of the cabin companies seemed more than willing to offer us a great last minute price, which was a relief. However, talking to the companies on the phone gave me a different aspect on some of the cabins, as some rental companies were very friendly, while others seemed to care less whether or not you would be staying with them or not. Since customer service is a huge thing for me, we decided to go with a company that offered great customer service.
We decided to rent our cabin through Volunteer Cabin Rentals in Wears Valley, Tennessee. Our cabin was actually "The Painted Pony". The cabin offered all of the amenities we were looking for, was offering a great special where if you stayed three nights you got the fourth night for free, and had excellent customer service over the phone.
Making our reservations, and checking into the cabin was a very simple process. We weren't exactly sure how far out of the way Wears Valley is but to our suprise it was located very close to Pigeon Forge. There are several stores within five miles but it was far enough out of the way that it was quiet, peaceful, and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere.
Once we arrived at our cabin it wasn't exactly how I had thought it would be but we still fell in love with it. The cabin was actually closer to other cabins than I thought it would be, it shared the driveway with another cabin. Another thing we did not like was the fact that the pool table was in the master bedroom. It was quite tight and if you hit the ball to a certain area of the pool table it was just impossible to hit.

The deck also offered a swing, two rocking chairs and a charcoal grill.

The best part of the hot tub was the fact that it was located just outside of the master bedroom, and offered an awesome view of the valley.
The first floor of the cabin offered a kitchen, table, couch, rocking chair, a bathroom, and a Murphy bed that folded down out of the wall.
The stairs leading down to the second floor open up to the master bedroom which features a King Sized bed, a heart shaped jacuzzi tub, the pool table, a bathroom, and a closet with a washer and dryer combo.
Both levels of the cabin offered TV's with Direct TV service.
Checking out of the cabin was as simple as checking in was. All in all renting our cabin with Volunteer Cabin Rental was a great experience.
