CoCo Key Water Resort - Cincinnati, Ohio

My kids love water.  In fact most of our travels are based around water.  Staying at a hotel without an indoor swimming pool?  Not an option.  So I guess it's just natural for us to visit indoor water parks as often as we do. 

We recently had the chance to visit CoCo Key Water Resort in Cincinnati, Ohio which is located in the Crowne Plaza Cincinnati North Hotel.

We bought day passes for our visit there, so my experience with CoCo Key Water Resort is based solely upon the water park and not on the hotel.  Day Passes generally cost $15 each but on the website if you sign up to receive the water park’s newsletter by email they will email you a coupon to receive $5 off of day passes for first time guests.  By doing this we received day passes for just $10 each.  They also offer discounted tickets to military families on Sundays for just $7.50 each, and on Sundays grandparents (ages fifty-five and older) are admitted free of charge. 

Purchasing tickets online was very simple, and I was able to print them out with no problems.  I'm always leary of buying tickets online, it's always in the back of my head that something will go wrong.  We will get to the location, our tickets won't be any good, and I will have some disappointed kiddos.  This has never happened, but it's always there in the back of my mind that one of these days it is going to happen.  Yes, I know I am weird.  

 Once we got to the water park there was a specific line for e-tickets where we were able to exchange our e-tickets for water park passes.  Checking in was simple and fast.

The water park itself is nice, and offers plenty of chairs and tables for sitting.  The water park offers an area for little swimmers with a zero entry depth pool, small slides, and sprayers.  For children who are a little bit bigger there is Parrot’s Perch a four story interactive play area with plenty of water cannons, slides, and a huge bucket of water that dumps water out every few minutes. 

For the bigger guests there are four forty-foot tall body and raft slides, a lazy river, an indoor/outdoor spa, and an activity pool that offers basketball goals.  

In the lilly pad area and activity pool life guards due require children under a certain height (I believe it was 42") to wear life jackes that are provided by the water park.  The kids weren't thrilled with it but I thought it was a great idea.

Here's what you need to know to make the best of your trip:

• There are large locker rooms for both men and women and a small one stall family restroom for changing from street clothes to your swimsuit.  Lockers are also available for rent for the day to stash all your stuff in for just $6 and can also be purchased when purchasing tickets online. 
• Inside the water park there is a bar that serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as typical snack bar food like pretzels, popcorn, and other snacks at typical snack bar prices.  In addition to the bar there is a A&W Rootbeer and Pizza Hut, these are extremely high in price.  There are several reasonably priced fast food restaurants near the water park.
• Towels are not provided for day pass holders so you will need to bring your own if you are not staying at the hotel.
• You must walk through the arcade when entering and leaving the water park. So if you are not going to do the arcade with the kids you are better off having that conversation before you arrive at the water park than try to have it standing in the middle of the arcade.
